ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the therapeutic efficacy of edaravone combined with citicoline sodium on acute cere-bral infarction and its effects on the levels of oxidative stress and inflammatory factors. METHODS:108 patients with acute cere-bral infarction were randomly divided into edaravone group(single group)and edaravone+citicoline sodium group(drug combina-tion group),with 54 cases in each group. Based on routine treatment, single group was given Edaravone injection 30 mg added in-to 100 ml 0.9% Sodium chloride injection intravenously, bid, used up within 30 min each time;drug combination group was addi-tionally given Citicoline sodium injection 0.5 g added into 250 ml 0.9% Sodium chloride injection intravenously,qd,on the basis of single group. Treatment course of 2 groups lasted for 2 weeks. NIHSS,HDS,Barthel index, oxidant stress indicator and inflam-matory factors were compared between 2 groups before and after treatment. RESULTS:After treatment, the effective rate of NI-HSS in drug combination group was 81.48%,which was significantly higher than single group(53.70%),with statistical signifi-cance (χ2=9.511,P=0.002). HDS score and Barthel index of 2 groups were significantly increased after treatment, especially in drug combination group, with statistical significance(P<0.05). Compared with before treatment, contents of MDA and ET-1 in 2 groups were decreased significantly, while SOD activity and NO content were increased significantly;the inflammatory cytokines IL-6,IL-8,IL-12 and IL-16,TNF-α were all decreased gradually, with statistical significance (P<0.05);the improvement of each indicator in drug combination group was more significant than single group, with statistical significance(P<0.05). CONCLU-SIONS:Edaravone combined with citicoline sodium show good therapeutic efficacy in the treatment of acute cerebral infarction, can decrease the levels of oxidative stress and inflammation and promote the recovery of the neurological function and the daily liv-ing ability.

ABSTRACT

This study was aimed to analyze the current prescription combination rules on traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in gastric cancer treatment, in order to explore reasonable application of data mining technology in the study of prescription combination rules. Modern literatures were searched in CNKI and WanFang database. Frequency analysis, association analysis and composition network were used comprehensively. Rules such as herb application frequency and combination rules of the target prescription set were analyzed. The results showed that after screening and standardization, 116 prescriptions were included in the set which including 1 269 herbs and involving 17 types of 212 herbs. It was concluded that TCM paid attention to strengthen body resistance in gastric cancer treatment. It can also be combined with drugs for invigorating blood circulation and stasis, heat-clearing and detoxification, dispersing phlegm and stasis, as well as regulatingqi stagnation depending on the syndrome.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To investigate the protective effect of combined administration of verapamil and nitroglycerin on the function of canine transplanted lungs.@*METHODS@#Twenty orthotopic left lung transplantations were performed in 40 canines, which were randomly divided into 4 groups. In group I (control), the donor lungs were perfused and preserved with LPD solution, while group II with LPD solution plus verapamil 0.1 g/L, group III with LPD solution plus nitroglycerin 0.1g/L, and group IV with LPD solution plus verapamil 0.1 g/L and nitroglycerin 0.1 g/L. Hemodynamics and graft gas exchange were assessed 0, 2 and 4 h after the operation. The lung grafts were harvested to measure the wet/dry weight ratio, malondialdehyde (MDA) contents and superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity.@*RESULTS@#Compared with group I, II and III, the mean pulmonary artery pressure (MPAP), pulmonary vascular resistance index (PVRI), partial pressure of oxygen in arterial blood (PaO₂), dynamic compliance (Cdyn) and alveolar-arterial oxygen tension volume [P(A- a)O₂] in group IV were improved significantly (P0.05). In group IV, the wet/dry weight ratio and MDA contents were lower than those in the other 3 groups, and the SOD activity was significantly higher than that of the other 3 groups (P<0.05).@*CONCLUSION@#Verapamil and nitroglycerin in LPD solution can protect the respiratory function of canine lung grafts by attenuating pulmonary edema and oxidative stress.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To determine the protective effect of zero-balanced ultraifltration and modiifed ultraifltration on infants’ pulmonary function atfer cardiac surgery. Methods: Sixty infants with congenital heart diseases were randomly divided into 3 groups: a zero-balanced ultraifltration group (Z group), a modiifed ultraifltration group (M group) and a zero-balanced ultraifltrationwith modified ultrafiltration group (Z+M group). Oxygenation index (OI), difference of alveoli-arterial oxygen pressure (P(A-α)O2), static lung compliance (Cstat), and airway resistance (Raw) were measured before caridopulmonary bypass (CPB, T1), 20 minutes atfer the CPB (T2), 2 h atfer the operation (T3), 6 h atfer the operation (T4) and 12 h atfer the operation (T5). hTe time of mechanical ventilation was also monitored. Results:Atfer the CPB, OI and Cstat in all groups decreased signiifcantly, while Raw and P(A-α)O2 increased signiifcantly. At T3, T4 and T5, OI and Cstat in the Z+M group were signiifcantly higher than those in the Z group and the M group (P<0.05), Raw andP(A-α)O2 in the Z+M group were signiifcantly lower than those in the Z group and the M group (P<0.05). hTe ventilation time in the Z+M group was signiifcantly shorter than that in the Z group and the M group (P<0.05). Conclusion:Zero-balanced ultrafiltration and modified ultrafiltration can effectively promote the pulmonary function atfer cardiac surgery in infants.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the measures to prevent recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN)injury during thyroid surgery. Methods The clinical data of 223 patients undergone thyroid surgery were retrospectively analyzed.Among the 223 surgeries,69 sides were undergone regional protection act of RLN and 191 sides were performed RLN exposure. Results There were 2 cases of RLN injury from the regional protection operation of RLN,including 1 case of temporary nerve injury which could be resulted from surgery clamp and 1 case of permanent nerve injury which might be caused by mistaking ligation during surgery. There was only 1 case of temporary nerve injury in RLN exposure procedure which was probably caused by the postoperative nerve edema and was recovered 2 months after the operation. The total RLN injury rate was 1.35%.Conclusion For benign thyroid lesions and non-dorsal lesions or during partial excision of the gland, the regional protection of RLN is helpful to prevent RLN injury. In cases with dorsal lesions of thyroid or contralateral RLN injury,or during lobe subtotal resection, lobe resection and reoperation, exposing RLN to prevent injury is necessary.Taking different approaches based on the profiles of lesions and surgical procedures to prevent RLN injury can significantly reduce the risk of RLN injury.

ABSTRACT

One hundred and six men aged >60 years were assigned to Group A (60 to 69 years old, n=33), Group B (70 to 79 years old, n=38) or Group C ( >80 years old, n =35), respectively. Serum testosterone, broadband ultrasound attenuation (BUA), speed of sound (SOS) , and stiffness (STI) were determined. Our results showed that as age increased, serum testosterone, BUA, SOS and STI decreased; serum testosterone was positively correlated with BUA ( r=0.62, P<0.05 ) and SOS ( r=0.54, P<0.05 ). We thus suggest that serum testosterone in elderly men might be closely related with bone mineral density.
